Judith Fafard, M.D., FRCPC
Dr Judith Fafard is a microbiologist-infectiologist, and the medical director of Laboratoire de Santé Publique du Québec (LSPQ) of the INSPQ. Dr Fafard is a clinical expert in STDs, and takes part in various mandates in regards to impacts of those infections on populational health. At the LSPQ she collaborates with different parties about evaluation of analytical procedures, surveillance and monitoring of diverse infectious treats and assistance for best practices in diagnostic laboratories. In response to the emergence and then the pandemic of COVID-19, she contributed to the deployment and validation of diagnostic assays for SARS-CoV-2, as well as the elaboration of guidance and tools for the use and interpretation of such assays. She is chair of INSPQ’s expert committee on genomic monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 (CEVG).
